Q: Do I need to book a place on an ATV trail maintenance day?
A: Nope. Just come along to the designated meeting point for the day.
Q: Where is the meeting point?
A: The meeting point will be confirmed nearer the date or placed on the description, once we know what section of trail we'll be working on. Keep an eye on the event posting for updates.
Q: My son/daughter would really like to get involved too, can they come along?
A: To comply with insurance, risk assessment and safeguarding, all volunteers need to be 18yrs and over.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Safety/steel toecap boots or otherwise sturdy boots are essential (wellies, rigger boots or trainers are not suitable). Heavy-duty gloves. Weather appropriate clothing/layers. Long trousers.
Q: Do I need to bring refreshment?
A: We strongly advise bringing plenty of snacks and fluids.
Q: How will we get to the work site?
A: The dig supervisor/s will help with transport or advise where to go from the meeting point.
Q: Will we have to walk far?
A: Depending on the intended work site, we may need to walk for a distance with our tools. The dig supervisor/s will provide more detail on the day.

Blue Scar dig day

Meeting at the Afan Visitors centre for 10oclock, parking will be free for the volunteers. From there we will walk up the climb dewatering and cutting back, then down Jim Crow, transport back from the end of Jim Crow will be provided.

Bramble Scramble opening

Official opening of Bramble Scramble, a community built trail/bike park/skills place for everyone in the beautiful grounds of Bryn Bettws Lodge. Its short with a lot packed in with a lot if different lines.

There will be BBQs, Camping, Biking, Beers, and fun times, along with some Afan Trail Volunteers t-shirts on sale and donation boxes.

The trail is suitable for beginners and experienced riders, loads of lines to choose, skinny lines, seesaws and small jumps.

SISTERS OF SEND WOMXN’S MTB FESTIVAL

Making its debut in 2021 is Wales’ first womxn’s mountain bike festival; the Sisters of Send Weekend!

This two-day event is packed full of stoke with events and activities designed to encourage and inspire sisterhood in mountain biking. There’ll be something for all abilities, from complete novices to elite superstars with some very best coaching talent running sessions to help you hone your skills.
